Lee County IL Updates

The "Green River Ordnance Plant" was a division of Stewart-Warner. They manufactured bombs and other weapons of WW 2. This was one of those "top secret" and dangerous facilities. The factory quickly opened in 1942 - and just as quickly closed down in 1945. This is the brochure of their "Open House" October 24, 1942 which was contributed by Mike & Diane Hosler. The brochure shows a clean facility and smiling people, but it was in fact a very serious production and very hard work.
This type of thing is hard to find anymore.

Butler County Kansas updates

Under the Obituaries link you'll find that we've been adding more and more obits. Quite a few under A-G and this will be a work in progress......
Under the Directories link you'll find that we now have part of the 1885 El Dorado City Directory (this will get finished up this coming week); 1887 Butler County Business Directory; 1906 El Dorado City Directory and the 1915-1916 El Dorado City Directory.
Currently transcribing the bios from "Butler County's Eighty Years 1855-1935" and this too will be a work in progress for a while - believe some of the C's, D's & F's have been added
Right off hand, those are all that instantly come to mind, but am sure there have been other things added as well, such as weddings, newspaper tidbits, murders.... soooo check back periodically to see if your ancestors are somewhere listed on the site.
Thanks bunches

Henderson County TN

Many of you know that I've spent the last several months working on the committee to restore the Doe Creek School & Church in Scotts Hill, Henderson County TN. Its been the most rewarding experience I've had since moving to Tennessee four years ago. I've asked myself "why" I was destined to move here -- I believe Doe Creek is part of the reason.
The building was taken down - one log at a time - and put back together again - one log at a time. It was done by prison labor donated by the state of Tennessee. It was accomplished by thousands and thousands of donated dollars and even more thousands of donated hours. A dedicated community and interested people brought the dream to reality and I'm very proud to have been a part of it.
Here is the Dedication Ceremony.. July 15, 2007..

Well if not, oh wells, cause here they come anyways!!! hahahaha
Under the Obituaries link you'll find that we've been adding more and more obits. Quite a few under A-G and this will be a work in progress......
